Puerto Rican journalist and writer Ana Teresa Toro has released a new book, 'Secuestro Pulmonar', which explores different stages of her life through the lens of pain. The book was inspired by a conversation with Spanish writer Almudena Grandes, who told her that 'we are all the people we have been'.

Toro's book delves into her past, including a pulmonary surgery she underwent and a diagnosis she received in 2008. Through her writing, Toro aimed to understand and honor her past selves, including the person she was at 20 years old.

She describes writing as a 'magical exercise' that allows her to enter her own mind and discover her thoughts and feelings. The book is a reflection on the connection between all the stories and experiences that make up a person's life.
