Jordy Cardona defeated Karlo Rodríguez with a spectacular knockout in the seventh round to win the regional global title of the World Boxing Organization (OMB) in the 118-pound division, as well as the national title in the same division. Cardona, who remained undefeated with a record of 11-0 and 10 knockouts, was losing on the scorecards after six rounds but managed to turn the fight around with a counterattack that left Rodríguez lying on the canvas.

Rodríguez, who fell to 10-2 with six knockouts, was able to sit up and recover from the blow, eventually leaving the ring on his own. The fight took place at the Coliseo Roger Mendoza in Caguas, and was part of a card promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions.

Cardona attributed his victory to his training, saying 'a punch that enters, these are things we work on in the gym, receiving, counterpunching, that's what happened tonight'.
