Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González Colón, president of the New Progressive Party (PNP), held the party’s governing board meeting at its headquarters during work hours to mark the collective’s 59th anniversary, despite a public social-media dispute with party vice president and Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz. The two traded criticisms Wednesday over the board meeting being scheduled during the same time as a planned Senate session, with each questioning the other’s work capacity and commitment to the party.
González Colón said Rivera Schatz has not attended the board since last year and insisted the meeting would continue regardless, noting it has historically been held on working days under nearly every PNP president.
