A fire broke out on Friday afternoon at the Botanical Garden of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in Río Piedras. The university reported the emergency and stated that the Puerto Rico Fire Department is on the scene attempting to extinguish the fire.
The UPR expressed gratitude for the prompt response from the Fire Department, the Emergency Management and Disaster Administration, the Medical Emergency Corps, and the San Juan Municipality's Emergency Management Office, all of which have teams on site supporting the response efforts. The cause of the fire was not immediately reported.
