Stephen Thompson Jr. and Arnaldo Toro will be available for the seventh game of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) final between Vaqueros de Bayamón and Santeros de Aguada on Sunday. Despite being called up for the next FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying window, they had planned to travel on Monday if the series extended to seven games, according to Yum Ramos, president of the Federación de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico (FBPUR).
The game will be played at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón, which is expected to be at full capacity. Thompson Jr. averages 9.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in the postseason, while Toro averages 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.
They will join the national team, which includes Ysmael Romero, Alfonso Plummer, and Jezreel De Jesús, among others, for the qualifying games against Argentina on August 27 and Uruguay on August 31. Puerto Rico is currently in fourth place in Group F with a 2-4 record.
