Ganaderos Borges, Inc., a company facing federal charges for allegedly dumping animal waste into a nearby stream, has requested an additional month from the Federal Court in San Juan to demonstrate compliance with conditions set for its continued operation. The company, its owner, and three employees were indicted for the alleged environmental violation. After the indictment, the court allowed the company to continue operating under strict conditions, including presenting evidence of hiring a specialized company for waste disposal within 10 days.
The company's defense requested 30 more days, citing the need for laboratory results to finalize a contract with a waste management company. The defense stated that the delay is due to technical tests required by potential contracting companies and not a lack of attention or willingness to comply. The company has been working on a 'Plan de Cumplimiento' with the Junta de Calidad Ambiental since 2022, which includes designing a wastewater treatment facility.
The company has not denied the allegations but has emphasized its efforts to comply with environmental regulations.
