A man was arrested on Thursday afternoon following a vehicle pursuit that began in Isla Verde, Carolina, and ended on the Kennedy Expressway in San Juan. According to Lieutenant Rubén Moyeno of the Carolina Municipal Police, the intervention was triggered by a license plate reader alert indicating the vehicle was involved in burglary and theft in Arecibo. Carolina municipal agents attempted to stop the driver, but he continued driving, leading to the pursuit.
The suspect was finally arrested near a vehicle dealership on Kennedy Avenue. The detainee, who has not been identified, refused to provide information to authorities and claims his detention is an error. The vehicle is registered to a resident of Cataño.
The Carolina Municipal Police will investigate and file charges related to the pursuit, while the original case will be referred to the Arecibo Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC).
