Luis Martel, father of Sebastián Luicarl Martel Torres, a 26-year-old teacher killed in an attempted carjacking, posted on Facebook expressing confidence the crime won't go unpunished after the arrest of a suspect. Sebastián's 21-year-old brother, who was a passenger, was seriously wounded by gunfire during the attack and ran to a nearby gas station for help. The FBI assumed jurisdiction of the investigation Wednesday night, according to Inspector Mabel Oliveras, director of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Carolina, following the arrest of Jorge Castro Ramos, 55, in the El Vivero neighborhood of Gurabo.

Castro Ramos reportedly made admissions to agents about his involvement and has a prior criminal record for illegal appropriation; his court case status is unknown. Investigators located the Toyota Corolla used in the crime, which was seized for forensic testing. Authorities say Castro Ramos did not act alone, meaning the FBI investigation continues.

The teacher was fatally shot early last Saturday while driving on PR-860 in Carolina. The brothers had left a World Gamer Day event at the Convention Center in Santurce and intended to visit their father, who was in the emergency room at a hospital.
