Governor Jenniffer González Colón is reportedly searching for a replacement for Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) Executive President Luis González Delgado, who has faced criticism over management of the public utility and persistent water service interruptions. Sources told El Nuevo Día the governor has met with at least three former AAA directors: Doriel Pagán Crespo, Elí Díaz Atienza, and José Ortiz Vázquez, and is also considering engineer Carlos I. Pesquera, whom she appointed as special coordinator for drinking water stability.
Ortiz Vázquez denied being interviewed for the post, saying he attended water-rationing meetings but is "not available" for the position; he has served on La Fortaleza's Drought Committee alongside Pesquera. Sources said Díaz Atienza also would not be available. Pagán Crespo did not respond to a request for comment.
Sources say González Delgado has privately considered resigning despite publicly denying it, and rumors within AAA suggest he could leave as soon as Friday, though no internal communication confirming his removal or resignation had been received by Friday morning. Senator Héctor Joaquín Sánchez, in an interview on Radio Isla 1320's "Pegao's en la Mañana" with journalist Milly Méndez, confirmed the governor's team has been "knocking on doors" and interviewing candidates, including Díaz Atienza.
