A fight between two inmates at the Guayama 500 Correctional Institution on Thursday afternoon left one of them injured, according to the Police. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when custody staff intervened in the fight and noticed that one of the inmates was bleeding from the left thigh.
The injured inmate was taken to the institution's medical area, where he received attention and was later referred to the Medical Center in stable condition. Doctors diagnosed the inmate with a deep open wound on the left thigh and a superficial laceration on the right thigh, both consistent with the use of a sharp object.
The case was referred to the Aggressions Division of the Guayama Criminal Investigations Corps. The inmate's condition is stable after receiving medical attention.
