Puerto Rican actress Lorena Jusino, 34, is pursuing her dream in Madrid, despite being told she would 'starve to death' in the acting profession. Born in Ponce and raised in Yauco, Jusino initially studied biology at the University of Puerto Rico's Mayagüez campus before switching to film production at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, graduating in 2016. She began her acting career in New York, where she had completed a university exchange program, and continued studying acting for two years.
Jusino worked as a waitress in Puerto Rico before moving to New York. She now works as an actress and content creator in Madrid, having overcome doubts and criticism about her career choices. Jusino's childhood, spent partly in Nuevo México and in Guánica's Playa Santa, where her grandparents lived, was marked by a love of performance and adventure.
Her family, including parents, aunts, and uncles, were her first audience, and she would often choreograph dances with her cousins and perform for them.
