'P'erre Book Expo' Brings Literature to Puerto Rico's Shopping Centers

Published Sep 5, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

The 'P'erre Book Expo' is a traveling project that brings literature to shopping centers in Puerto Rico. Founded by Liz Arroyo and Patrick O'Neill, the expo aims to create a space where bookstores, publishers, sellers, authors, and readers can connect. The first edition took place in July at Mayagüez Mall, with dozens of exhibitors participating.

This weekend, over 60 exhibitors will be at Plaza del Caribe in Ponce until Sunday, September 6. Arroyo and O'Neill, who have experience in the book industry, noticed a lack of spaces for the community to integrate and decided to create a circuit of fairs in different locations. The expo seeks to create a community where people can share and help each other, elevating the literature and book industry in Puerto Rico.

The founders want to provide a space for new authors, publishers, and bookstores to emerge and reach the public.
