A cargo aircraft that had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan ran off the runway on Sunday after landing at Miami International Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the plane was 21 Air flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 freighter operating for Amazon Prime Air, which landed around 2:00 PM local time.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident. The plane was left disabled at the airport’s northwest end. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported the aircraft caught fire as a result of the accident, and firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
The agency said there were multiple patients, though no details on their conditions were immediately available. Images from the scene showed columns of black smoke rising from the aircraft.
