Governor Jenniffer González announced an additional $80 million allocation of CDBG-MIT federal funds for the Pronto Pa Tu Casa program, which helps eligible homebuyers cover part of the upfront costs of purchasing a home. This is on top of $100 million assigned earlier this year, and officials project the new funds could benefit about 1,900 more families, subject to eligibility criteria.
So far, over 750 families have received assistance and more than 1,200 are in process; with the initial allocation, the program aims to serve about 2,600 families total. González said the goal is to give families ready to buy a home the tools to do so.
