The 'Ruta de la tapa 2026' gastronomic event is taking place in Puerto Rico for the second consecutive year, featuring 20 restaurants, mostly serving Spanish cuisine. The event, organized by the Oficina Económica y Comercial de España en Puerto Rico and ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones through Foods & Wines from Spain, will run from September 4 to October 4. Participants can choose between two Spanish-inspired tapas and a Spanish drink for $15 at each restaurant.

After visiting three restaurants, they can vote for their favorite tapas. A jury will also select the 'Best Tapa' and 'Most Creative Tapa'. The event is part of the 'Eat Spain Drink Spain' campaign in Puerto Rico, aiming to promote Spanish gastronomy and tourism.

According to Francisco Millán, director of the Oficina Económica y Comercial de España en Puerto Rico, the event allows Puerto Ricans to experience the best of Spanish cuisine without leaving the island. The 20 participating restaurants are located in San Juan, Guaynabo, Bayamón, and Caguas.
