Iván G. Schuls Pimentel, a 49-year-old man, faces charges for allegedly attempting to flee in a vehicle during an intervention and hitting a sergeant from the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DCR) on July 8 in Barrio Obrero, Santurce. According to the investigation, Schuls Pimentel reversed his 2014 Hyundai Tucson and hit the sergeant's left arm, prompting DCR officers to respond with their regulation firearms.
The case was reviewed by the San Juan Prosecutor's Office, and charges were filed under Article 108 of the Penal Code for aggression. Judge Lisa M. Durán Ortiz of the San Juan Court determined cause for arrest on all charges and set a $25,000 bail, which Schuls Pimentel did not post, leading to his reentry into the Institution Penal 705 at the Bayamón Correctional Complex.
A preliminary hearing date has not been announced.
