A 56-year-old man, Silvio Luciano Toranzo Fernández, was arrested and jailed after a judge found probable cause to detain him for allegedly causing a triple fracture in the right arm of an elderly person. According to the San Juan Criminal Investigations Corps' (CIC) Aggressions Division, Toranzo Fernández supposedly used both hands to twist the victim's right arm, causing the injury.
The victim received medical treatment from December 2025 to August 2026 due to the injuries. Prosecutor María Terraza Soler filed a charge under Article 127A of the Puerto Rico Penal Code, which pertains to the mistreatment of elderly individuals.
After evaluating the evidence, Judge Rocío Alonso Rivera of the San Juan Court determined there was probable cause for arrest and set a $10,000 bail. Since Toranzo Fernández did not post bail, he was booked and admitted to the Bayamón Correctional Institution 705.
