The 2026-27 NFL season has begun, with around 10 players of Puerto Rican descent participating across the 32 teams. Federico Maranges, a center from Dorado, Puerto Rico, is part of the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad, while Isiah Pacheco, a running back with Puerto Rican parents, signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions worth $1.81 million.
Pacheco will miss the first four games due to a back injury. Other players of Puerto Rican descent include Enrique Cruz, an offensive lineman with the San Francisco 49ers; Josaiah Stewart, an outside linebacker with the Los Angeles Rams; and KC Concepción, a wide receiver with the Cleveland Browns.
Concepción, who is of Puerto Rican descent through his grandmother, was a first-round draft pick and won the Maurice Bassett award as the most outstanding rookie in the Browns' training camp.
