Derek D. Karlovick, a 39-year-old resident of San Juan, was arrested and charged with illegally appropriating a vehicle and trespassing. According to the investigation by the Puerto Rico Police Department's Stolen Vehicles Division, Karlovick was found in possession of a 2019 Nissan Kicks SR on September 13, which had been reported as a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle was initially seized by the authorities on September 12 for investigation. Agent José A. Montalvo, under the supervision of Sergeant Wilmarie Quiñones, conducted the investigation along with prosecutor Melissa Jiménez Bosques.
Judge Dayra Infante of the San Juan Court found probable cause for arrest and set a $5,000 bail, which Karlovick did not pay, resulting in his incarceration at the Bayamón Correctional Institution 705.
