The Puerto Rico men's national soccer team, led by forward Leandro Antonetti, is preparing for the 2026 Concacaf Nations League, which begins on September 24. Antonetti, who plays for Estrela Amadora in Portugal, made his debut with the national team on June 9, 2022, and scored his first goal on March 23, 2023.
The team's goal is to advance to League A and qualify for the Gold Cup. According to Gabriel Ortiz, secretary general of the Puerto Rican Football Federation, the team has a solid and experienced lineup, including Jeremy De León, formerly of Real Madrid Castilla, and Wilfredo Rivera, who plays for Barracas Central in Argentina.
The team will face Guyana on September 24 and Dominica on September 27, and will host its next two matches on October 1 and 4 at the Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez. Coach Jay Mims, who took over the team in March, expects Antonetti to bring his offensive energy to the team.
