Amasar, a Puerto Rican company, has launched a pizza dough made from breadfruit, a versatile food that grows locally. The dough, which is gluten-free and high in fiber, has a thin and crispy texture and can be adapted to different recipes and ingredients. Marisol Villalobos, CEO of Amasar, stated that the company aims to connect pizza with Puerto Rican roots while giving chefs the freedom to interpret it from their own concept.
Amasar has been working since 2016 to develop new ways to utilize breadfruit, starting with gluten-free flours and evolving into new culinary options. The launch of this pizza dough marks a new stage for the company, expanding its offer with breadfruit-based products. The dough is available in Puerto Rico through Ballester Food Services, which is in charge of its distribution for the food market.
With this product, Amasar seeks to consolidate itself as a platform for nutritious products and simple ingredients based on breadfruit, offering a combination of nutritional value, flavor, and creativity.
