The investigation, prompted by Senate Resolution 586, will examine the committee's selection criteria for international competitions and its finances, including the $8 million in public funds it receives for each Olympic cycle.
Rosario stated that the committee has always provided accounting and financial statements to government agencies, and that repeated investigations harm the institution's reputation and ability to secure funding. The Senate's Youth and Recreation and Sports Commission will lead the investigation and has requested a explanatory report from Copur, which must be submitted by September 23.
During a press conference, Rosario presented documentation demonstrating the committee's compliance with public fund management and highlighted that athlete selection criteria have been regulated since 2012 and are publicly announced.
