Walmart Puerto Rico has launched 'Isla de Luz', a limited collection of reusable bags designed by Puerto Rican artist Juan Salgado. The collection features 8 original designs, each representing a distinct symbol of Puerto Rican identity, such as the coquí, vejigante, and cotorra puertorriqueña. The first set of 4 designs is available starting September 15, with the remaining designs to be released in November.
Salgado's designs aim to bring art directly to thousands of Puerto Rican families through a everyday object. This collaboration is part of Walmart Puerto Rico's sustainability strategy, which promotes the reduction of single-use plastic through reusable bags. Coral Cummings, Director of Corporate Affairs at Walmart Puerto Rico, stated that this collaboration is part of a broader plan to showcase local talent and suppliers in their stores.
The reusable bags are available for purchase at 18 Walmart Puerto Rico stores.
