Puerto Rico Defeats Dominican Republic, Advances to Semifinals

Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in the Caribbean duel for first place in Group A, advancing directly to the semifinals of the 2026 Women's Pan American Cup. The Puerto Rican team won 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-19 at the Domo de la Feria de León in Guanajuato, concluding the group stage with a 4-0 record. The Dominican Republic finished second with a 3-1 record and will play Cuba in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Puerto Rico's coach, José Mieles, said, 'I'm happy with the victory. The girls played well and kept their calm in moments of pressure.' Dariana Hollingsworth led the Puerto Rican offense with 30 points, including 26 attacks and four blocks. Puerto Rico dominated in attacks (59-51), blocks (9-5), and aces (5-0).

The Dominican Republic committed 25 errors, one less than Puerto Rico. Flormarie Heredia was the top scorer for the Dominican Republic with 20 points, all in attacks.
