Judge Rocío Alonso González of the San Juan Tribunal determined cause for arrest against José J. Rodríguez Contreras, 37, on charges of illegal vehicle and parts trafficking, manufacture, distribution, and use of ammunition, and carrying a firearm without a license. According to the investigation, on September 15, Inspector Wilberto Soto of the San Juan Municipal Police's Motorized Unit stopped a red 2018 Mini Cooper with license plate IYS-491, which was reported stolen from the Fajardo area.
The driver was detained, and a Glock 21 pistol, .45 caliber ammunition, two magazines, $815 in cash, and five containers of medicinal cannabis were found inside the vehicle. Agent Luis A. Negrón of the San Juan Stolen Vehicles Division consulted with prosecutor Juan Mencacci, who filed the charges.
The defendant posted a $21,000 bond through a private surety.
