The Hospital de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) Federico Trilla and the Programa Graduado en Odontología General of the Escuela de Medicina Dental del Recinto de Ciencias Médicas de la UPR have joined forces for the fourth edition of 'Sonrisas Especiales', a community initiative offering free preventive oral health services to patients with special needs. At the event, patients and their families praised the dental care and love they received.

Aida Rivera Irizarry, the mother of María N. Aponte Rivera, a young woman with several conditions, expressed her gratitude for the treatment her daughter received, including a general cleaning and check-up.

Rivera Irizarry highlighted the kindness and dedication of the dentists, saying they treat patients 'with a lot of love' and 'from the heart', not just for money. The initiative aims to provide essential dental care to those who need it most, and the patients and their families appreciate the compassion and care they receive.
