Amelia Crespo Delgado, a 12-year-old 'orgullosamente sorda' (proudly deaf) girl from Puerto Rico, has achieved numerous milestones despite her diagnoses of autism and attention deficit. She has written two books, illustrated a children's publication, and is an advocate for the neurodivergent population. Amelia was born in Puerto Rico, but her family moved to Texas in 2017 to access necessary services.
Her mother, Mary Carmen Delgado Vázquez, stated that they left their family in Puerto Rico to provide Amelia with the required therapies and services. Amelia has received services in Houston and San Antonio, and currently lives in the Dallas area, where she has pursued her passions for art, leadership, and modeling. Her mother describes her as a 'superhero' due to her resilience and creativity.
Amelia's goal is to become a 'Super Kid' through the Stan Lee Foundation. She has overcome significant challenges, including learning to communicate through her cochlear implants and developing her language skills.
