A 23-year-old man arrested in Guaynabo is being investigated in connection with the murder of a tourist in Santurce earlier this year. The suspect, who was detained during a police raid, is now under federal custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Another man, 50, was also arrested and is reportedly serving a supervised release sentence dating back to 2016. The police seized four AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition, as well as drugs including crack, cocaine, and marijuana.
The 23-year-old suspect is believed to be linked to the killing of 27-year-old Vedhol Alexander Emmanuel Smith, a Florida resident who was shot while riding in an Uber vehicle. According to the preliminary police report, the Uber driver was transporting eight passengers when they were approached by masked individuals who fired shots, injuring two of the passengers.
