The Estuario de la Bahía de San Juan entity announced the start of the Semana de los Estuarios, inviting citizens to participate in 18 events over seven days to highlight the importance of estuarine ecosystems and their conservation. According to Brenda Torres Barreto, the events will take place from September 19 to 26 and will include explorations of the Laguna del Condado, coastal cleanups, and training seminars for citizens. Events such as 'Rema por el Estuario' will be held on September 20 at various locations in the Laguna del Condado.
Torres Barreto emphasized the vulnerability of estuaries and the impact of daily activities on water quality. The Semana de los Estuarios will also feature workshops, educational fairs, field experiences, and educational tours.
