San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero announced the arrest of Cristian Peña Encarnación, 40, who was caught on security cameras attempting to rob a residence in the Condado area. Peña Encarnación was accused of various crimes, including burglary, illegal appropriation, and property damage in the tourist zone. The arrest occurred on Friday at 3:55 p.m. following an investigation by the Municipal Police's Criminal Investigation Division.

At the time of his arrest, Peña Encarnación had $400 in cash on him. The charges against him stem from an incident on September 14, where he allegedly broke into a occupied residence on Wilson Street, damaging rejas and stealing approximately $520 worth of electrical and plumbing tools. The case was reviewed by prosecutor Adriana Albort Ortiz, who determined to file criminal charges under articles 195(C), 182, and 198 of the Puerto Rico Penal Code.

Mayor Romero and Police Commissioner Juan Jackson praised the work of the municipal police in apprehending the suspect and emphasized their commitment to protecting the community and tourist areas.
