Unit #6 of the San Juan thermoelectric plant, along with its seven available portable generators, will be able to operate only on diesel, not natural gas, at least until Monday. This follows a dispute between New Fortress Energy (NFE) and the pilots of the San Juan bay, who guide vessels in and out of the port.
The disagreement is delaying the entry of a tanker ship currently waiting several miles offshore, which would otherwise supply natural gas to the plant.
