The first NASA Earth Information Center (EIC) in the Caribbean and the third in the United States has opened at the EcoExploratorio: Museo de Ciencias de Puerto Rico. This center serves as a kind of 'embassy' for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Puerto Rico, providing a permanent link to space.
The opening coincides with the ninth anniversary of Hurricane Maria, which still leaves 'electrical scars' visible from satellites during power outages. The center is located at the EcoExploratorio, a science museum in Puerto Rico.
