The Centenaria Banda Colegial and its Flag Bearers from the University of Puerto Rico's Mayagüez Campus (RUM) will represent Puerto Rico in the 2028 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, after being selected to participate. This will be the band's second time marching in the parade, following their historic participation in 2020 as the first Puerto Rican university band to do so. The announcement was made during the celebration of the band's 115th anniversary.
According to Dr. Miguel A. Muñoz, Rector of RUM, the selection reaffirms the campus's commitment to excellence and demonstrates that the university's impact transcends Puerto Rico's borders.
The band was founded in 1914 and has a long history of representing Puerto Rico in international events.
