The path to achieving a dream, such as playing in the Major Leagues, requires effort, sacrifice, and a long process. For high school baseball players in Puerto Rico, the journey to potentially being drafted in the 2027 MLB draft has already begun.
El Nuevo Día's podcast Tiempo Extra features interviews with two of these prospects, outfielder Fabián Rodríguez and pitcher Joniel Miranda, who share their experiences and the work that lies ahead. Other notable players include catcher Dariel Carrión, ranked as the second-best high school catcher in the US by Baseball America, and pitcher Gean Figueroa, who at 17 years old is already throwing 93 mph fastballs with impressive control.
