Governor Jenniffer González Colón held a virtual meeting with the Financial Oversight and Management Board to review Puerto Rico's fiscal progress. She reported that General Fund revenues closed fiscal year 2026 at $13.9 billion, about $874 million or 6.7% above the Treasury Department's projection and 2.05% above the prior fiscal year's collections. She said Puerto Rico continues advancing toward a stable, growing economy and a responsible exit from fiscal oversight, citing measurable progress, fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability.
On the labor market, non-farm salaried employment reached 958,800 in August, up 8,700 from a year earlier, while household-survey employment hit 1,178,000, up 15,000 from August 2025; labor force participation stood at 45.9%. The Department of Economic Development and Commerce completed 30 relocation, new-operation and expansion projects involving 28 companies across 20 municipalities, representing $2.62 billion in committed private investment, 5,129 new jobs, over 16,200 new and existing jobs tied to operations, and $584 million in committed payroll.
Between January and August, the permitting system received 92,225 filings, 34.4% more than the same period in 2025, resolving 68.9% of permits within 30 days, with average wait time dropping from 115 days in 2024 to 18 days.
