Puerto Rico's Nutritional Assistance Program (PAN) will begin distributing an additional $46.78 deposit to participants starting Thursday, September 24, as part of a $56.8 million disbursement of unused funds from the last fiscal year. Blanca Medina, of the Administración de Desarrollo Socioeconómico de la Familia (Adsef), explained during an interview with Milly Méndez on the program Día a Día that the money will be deposited directly onto beneficiaries' PAN cards.
Medina said the funds represent a remainder from 2025 that returned to the agency's coffers because some participants did not use all their benefits within the required 108-day period. About 1.2 million people will receive the additional aid.
The disbursement will be staggered based on the last digit of each beneficiary's Social Security number: those ending in 0-2 will receive the deposit Thursday, September 24; those ending in 3-6 will get it Friday, September 25; and those ending in 7-9 will see it Saturday, September 26. Medina emphasized that participants need not take any additional action, as the money will appear automatically on their PAN cards.
