The Police reported on Wednesday that three minors, all under 17 years old, face serious charges for violating the Arms Law after a firearm was found during a vehicle intervention in Hatillo. The incident occurred on Tuesday on PR-130 highway in the Campo Alegre neighborhood, after a citizen alerted 911 about three suspicious individuals in a 2020 white Mitsubishi Mirage.
Police officers on a preventive patrol intervened with the vehicle and its occupants, who were found to be minors from Arecibo and Hatillo. During the intervention, officers seized a Glock 26 pistol, two chargers, and 26 rounds of ammunition.
The minors were charged with serious offenses for violating the Arms Law, and Judge Alba Calderón Cestero of the Arecibo Court determined to leave them under the supervision of their parents. A hearing has been scheduled for October 7.
