Puerto Rico's women's softball team maintains its third-place position in the global rankings, according to the latest classification published by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The new ranking was announced on Wednesday after the summer competitions, including the World Cup group stages, Central American and Caribbean Games, South American Games, and Asian Games.
Puerto Rico accumulated 3,002 points, surpassed only by Japan with 3,711 points and the United States with 3,486 points. The team recently won its third consecutive gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo and qualified for the World Cup final to be held in Australia in 2027.
The final will take place in Redcliffe, Australia, from April 5 to 11, 2027, with Puerto Rico, Japan, Canada, China Taipei, the United States, and Mexico already qualified. The next event for the women's softball team will be the U18 Pan American Championship in El Salvador in November.
