The Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) board of directors has rejected a proposal to move the Indios de Mayagüez basketball team to Isabela. The request was made by the team's American owner, Dion New, but did not receive the required two-thirds majority vote from the league's franchise owners. As a result, the Indios will continue to represent Mayagüez in the upcoming season of professional Puerto Rican basketball.
The BSN did not provide details on the vote or the reasons behind New's request to move the team. The league reiterated its commitment to the stability of its franchises and the development of professional basketball in Puerto Rico. New acquired the Indios franchise mid-season last year.
