LUMA celebrated the 2026 Rodeo of the Electrical Line Worker Program (ULP), an industry event that highlights the preparation and development of the program's apprentices. This group represents the ninth edition of the ULP, marking a continuous advance in the training of new electrical line workers for Puerto Rico. A total of 14 apprentices participated in the event, including a female student who was also selected as class president.
The rodeo allows apprentices to publicly demonstrate the skills they developed during their 13 weeks of training at LUMA College. Janisse Quiñones, CEO of LUMA, expressed pride in training highly skilled professionals, whose work is essential to continue improving the electrical system and communities. The event featured four main competitions: disk replacement, crossarm replacement, ascent relay, and rescue, where students executed tasks that replicate real operations in the field, applying strict safety protocols and demonstrating speed, precision, coordination, and technical mastery.
