Melvin González Rodríguez, a 36-year-old resident of Añasco, was sent to prison after being accused of mistreating an elderly person by withdrawing $5,923.12 from a 65-year-old woman's account without her authorization. According to the police, González Rodríguez took the woman's ATH card and made the withdrawals between July and August. The prosecutor instructed to present a charge under Article 127-A for mistreating an elderly person.
Judge Luis Padilla Galiano determined cause for arrest and set a $3,000 bail, which González Rodríguez did not pay, so he was admitted to the Ponce Correctional Complex. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for October 7.
