The defense team of Elvia Cabrera Rivera has requested that the Aibonito Tribunal allow the press to access the presentence report of Anthonieska Avilés, arguing that the document contains potentially exculpatory information for their client. The report allegedly includes statements from Avilés about the person who gave her the white weapon used in the events that led to the case.
Attorneys Alberto Rivera Ramos and Mayra López Mulero claim that these statements, along with other evidence in the report, could prove their client's innocence. The defense has asked the tribunal to permit access to a redacted version of the report, with only confidential information removed. The tribunal had previously denied access to the document on September 18, citing confidential information.
The defense now seeks reconsideration of this decision, hoping to reveal content that could provide relevant information about who gave Avilés the weapon.
