Hiram Torres Montalvo has been declared the winner of the special election for mayor of Cataño, Puerto Rico, by the president of the Comisión Estatal de Elecciones (CEE), Jorge Rivera Rueda. Torres Montalvo obtained 1,733 votes, equivalent to 46.03% of the total, surpassing Bethzaida Rodríguez Torres by 246 votes. Rodríguez Torres received 1,487 votes, or 39.50%.
Other candidates, Fernando Cintrón Mercado, José Manuel Rodríguez Ocaña, and Félix 'Tato' Matías, received 390, 141, and 14 votes, respectively. The total number of votes cast was 3,765. Rivera Rueda praised the work of the CEE officials and the significant participation in the election, which took place without incidents.
