The Hermandad de Empleados No Docentes de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (HEEND) approved a strike vote on Friday due to a dispute over the application of the collective agreement. The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) is also facing another conflict with the Sindicato de Trabajadores. The HEEND accuses UPR President Zayira Jordán Conde of 'lack of transparency' regarding the Plan de Clasificación y Retribución, a necessary document to update salary scales.
According to the union, administrative processes and good faith dialogue have been exhausted. The decision was approved by an absolute majority of the 700 union members who participated. The HEEND's Board of Directors will meet soon to outline the strike process, which will include an assembly of delegates.
