Yohandy Morales, the Cuban-American first baseman for the Washington Nationals, wants to return to the Cangrejeros de Santurce, the professional baseball champions of Puerto Rico. Morales' agent is in talks with the Cangrejeros' management. Morales had a successful debut in the Major Leagues, batting .255 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 17 games with the Nationals.
He also had a strong season with the Rochester Red Wings in Triple A, batting .286 with 25 home runs and 76 RBIs. Morales has played first base and served as a designated hitter with the Nationals, but the team wants him to also play third base, which he plans to do if he returns to Santurce.
Morales had a positive experience with Santurce in the 2025-2026 season, which included a trip to the Caribbean Series in Mexico.
