Norma Burgos Andújar, Secretary of the Gobernación, met with Nelly Ayala León, president of the Asociación de Empleados de Comedores Escolares, and other union representatives to discuss difficulties in food supply and distribution in public schools. The meeting was held after complaints about the issue. The subsecretario of the Gobernación, Pedro De Jesús Román, also participated.
The parties discussed product availability, distribution processes, and the needs of schools with students requiring special diets. As a result, they agreed to establish a direct communication channel to identify and address specific situations in coordination with the Department of Education and the Autoridad Escolar de Alimentos. Burgos Andújar stated that the priority is to ensure students receive their meals and that staff have the necessary resources to provide the service.
