A Puerto Rico Senate employee was arrested Thursday by federal authorities in a child pornography case, according to Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz. Rivera Schatz identified him as Faustino David Reyes Rodríguez, who works as an "office worker/receptionist" in the Senate's Protocol Office. Rivera Schatz announced that the accused "will be removed from his post," saying he will not tolerate crime or corruption.
The federal file indicates a grand jury charged Reyes Rodríguez with two counts: receipt and distribution of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. An arrest warrant was issued against him on September 23. The federal file does not record the arrest, though Rivera Schatz posted a photo of the detained man, and details of the alleged offenses could not be obtained.
Rivera Schatz explained that Reyes Rodríguez came to the Senate under the presidency of José Luis Dalmau of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). He said Dalmau appointed him special aide in the presidency on December 1, 2023, then moved him to the protocol office on July 1, 2024. Rivera Schatz said this is the second arrest in the Senate in child pornography cases.
The first was Jadhiel Andrés Cedeño Gómez, a leader of Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana, arrested in February 2026 while serving as a Senate intern, recruited by PPD Senator Ada Álvarez Conde. Cedeño Gómez's case is in negotiation with federal prosecutors for a guilty plea.
