Judge Roberto Capestany Quiñones of the Aibonito Tribunal found probable cause for arrest against 39-year-old Norberto Ortega Cruz, who allegedly attempted to steal a driver’s cellphone and crashed his Jeep Liberty into the driver’s Toyota Corolla when the driver resisted. According to the Police investigation, the incident occurred on September 19 in Comerío, where Ortega Cruz tried to take the driver’s phone and, when refused, allegedly rammed the Toyota, endangering the driver’s life and causing $7,869.89 in damages.
Prosecutor María Vara García filed charges for attempted murder and damages. The judge found cause for all charges and set a $70,000 bond, which Ortega Cruz did not post, leading to his arrest and incarceration at the Ponce Correctional Institution.
