Why this matters: The album showcases Puerto Rico’s rich musical and cultural heritage, offering new interpretations of classic songs for contemporary audiences.

Puerto Rican musician and producer Félix O. Rodríguez has reimagined classic American songs from the 1960s in tropical rhythms with his production 'Caribbean Salute To The Sixties’. The album features songs like 'My Girl', 'Feeling Good', and 'Respect' with new interpretations, including a bolero version of 'My Girl' with José Luis Papá Chú, a bomba puertorriqueña version of 'Feeling Good' with Joelly A. Cancel Rivera, and a merengue version of 'Respect' with Estefanía Mercedes.

The album also includes themes in bachata, plena, and jíbaro genres from Puerto Rico. Rodríguez, an experienced trombonist and arranger in tropical music, made all the musical arrangements for the album, which will be available on digital platforms, vinyl, and CD. 'Caribbean Salute To The Sixties’ is Rodríguez’s first production as a leader.
