Las Estrellas del Guamaní, a team from Guayama, secured the first place in the South section of the 2026 Women’s Baseball League by splitting a doubleheader with the Poetas de Juana Díaz. With a 10-2 record, Guayama finished the regular season in first position and earned a direct pass to the South section championship series.
In the first game, Las Estrellas del Guamaní won 9-6, with Consuelo Payero pitching three scoreless innings in relief and Daniela Figueroa earning the save. Valeria Rosario led the team’s offense with four runs batted in. Juana Díaz won the second game 5-3, with Danna González pitching a complete game and striking out seven batters.
The team now waits for the result of the semifinal series between the Poetas de Juana Díaz and the Ponys de Santa Isabel to determine their opponent in the sectional championship. Other scheduled games were suspended due to rain.
